Creative Awards 2016 Sees Local Design Talent Gunning for Top Prizes
Voting for the Creative Awards 2016 is fully underway as SA’s top design schools go head-to-head for cash prizes valued at R35,000 and an iMac computer for their school.
October marked the launch of South Africa’s most highly anticipated design competition: the Creative Awards 2016 proudly sponsored by WEBPRINTER, a national printing company that has invested in providing a visible platform for up and coming design talent.
Voting is now fully underway as friends, families, members of the general public and fellow design students cast their votes for their favourite artworks online.
“The Creative Awards 2016 has received a great response from South Africa’s top design students at various prestigious design schools, and has given them a platform to showcase their unique interpretations of this year’s theme: Save Water,” says WEBPRINTER’S CEO Peter Kohnert.
Students from City Varsity in Cape Town, Friends of Design Academy and Inscape Education are currently heading the leader board, with an average of 1,500 votes each.
The winners of this year’s competition will walk away with fantastic prizes for themselves and the colleges they represent.
The winning designer will walk away with a R20, 000 cash prize and their winning designed poster, fitting this year’s Save Water theme, will be distributed to national organisations and municipalities around the country.
What’s more, the visual arts or design college that the winning designer represents will also receive a top-of-the-range Apple iMac computer valued at R27, 000.
Second and third runners-up will win R10, 000 and R5, 000 cash prizes respectively.
How voting works
Voters are allowed to vote for up to three of their favourite designs during the voting phase of the competition on the Creative Awards website, which ends on Monday, 21 November.
The winners of the competition will be announced during the last week of November.
“The response from local design talent has been fantastic,” says Kohnert. “This competition was launched to showcase the very best of South Africa’s innovative design talent, and we look forward to rewarding young, innovative thinkers for their talent, creativity and environmental consciousness.”
